I have wanted to write a blog for sometime now. I kept asking myself what would I write about? My purpose for my blog is simple, I want to write about things that are important to me, topics such as Purity, Modesty, Relationships. I want to write using a biblical viewpoint. Using Scripture to challenge the norm. I want to be a voice to encourage young woman to STAND Stay. True. And. Never. Deviate. for Purity.
Lets get one thing straight, Purity isn't my main goal , now I know that may sound strange, but I believe that Purity is so much more then fleeing from sexual sin and waiting until marriage . Purity starts with self worth.
What are you worth? It says in Psalm 139:13-14. For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mothers womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. I am a true believer in loving yourself. You cant expect a man to love you when you don't love your self, it is unhealthy to find self worth in the arms of a man. Now I am not saying that he cant pay you a complement, I am saying that you need to first find your self worth in the arms of the one who created you. As a teen I struggled with self worth. I know first hand the struggles we as woman face. We are bombarded with media's definition of beautiful . Double zero, thigh gaps, perfect hair, flawless skin, long lashes, blameless make-up and the list goes on. Unachievable standards! As a youth leader and mentor I see the same struggles in young girls as I had growing up.
I want you to imagine yourself painting this beautiful picture of a sun rise. using reds and yellows to fill the sky, adding blues and turquoise for the ocean below. After painting it you take a step back and you absolutely love everything about this painting down to the very last detail, Now imagine someone looking at the picture and pointing out all the flaws. Just imagine the hurt you would feel. Knowing that hurt why do we do the same to God? Our perfect creator!
We were made in the image of God it says in Genesis 1:27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
My prayer is that we would look at ourselves through Gods eyes and find our confidence in Him and not that of the world!
Blessings,
Katelyn
