Yes, you read that right I am giving up! I am giving up on this idea that I will find my "one true love my soul mate" and that we will live happily ever after. Blah. Blah. Blah. I don't believe in soul mates. I know I may sound like a cynic,or even a little bitter. I see it like this, what happens if your soul mate dies now that may sound horrible but does that mean that I can never love again and if I do am I taking away there soul mate. I believe that with God in the centre of any relationship it will be blessed.
This idea that this perfect prince charming will come gallivanting on a white horse to save me, His damsel in distress is well...it's not going to happen.
Hollywood and Disney corrupted the idea of love.I like a good romantic fairy tale ending movie as much as the next girl but they only show the "Honeymoon Phase" -it is usually the first 3 months of a new relationship where everything seems perfect, but it is not reality. relationships are hard work. After the "honeymoon phase" things that we thought were cute like his quirky little mannerism's quickly become the things we want to change first. The real relationship starts after the "honeymoon phase".
We live in a society where the word love is passed around. It has lost all meaning. We say things like I love those shoes or I love my hair today. What is love? It says in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Perfect love, as Jesus loved the church. My prayer is that we stop looking for Prince Charming and start looking for a man who is living a life like Christ did!
Blessings, Katelyn
